Terror Kidnapping Gangs Unsettle Delta, Abduct Female Banker, 3 Others

Bizarre kidnapping gangs who recently moved into Delta State, have abducted a female banker in one of the new generation banks, an NUT Official, and two Civil Servants (names withheld) in the past two weeks after they were reportedly released upon alleged ransom of N3 million.

It was gathered that the “terror kidnapping gangs” abducted the victims at their houses at gun point, and took them to an unknown destination where they allegedly made contact for the ransom before they were released.

But the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, who confirmed that the police were on the trail of the kidnapping gangs, said the gangs would soon be brought to book, adding that plain clothes policemen have positioned in strategic areas where they will brought to book.

Investigation revealed that their modus operandi, is to operate as taxi drivers after upon which they target their unsuspecting victims, a situation they will move into action few days after to execute their evil act.

Reports said the NUT official was kidnapped on his way from Asaba to Ughelli at gun point along Ibusa road and was taken to an unknown destination where he spent three days before he was let off the hook.

Last Monday, the civil servant, resident in Okpanam town was abducted in his farmland during nightfall in Ugbolu alongside one of his workers, the victims were later released after spending one week with their abductors in the bush after their family members allegedly paid N900, 000 ransom.

Speaking further, the police boss said; “we are doing our best to track down the gangs, we will never shy away from our statutory duties”.

Further investigation revealed that the gangs are armed with sophisticated weapons and guns as they do not strike their targeted victims after ransom is paid by their families.

A victim who did not want his name in the print said; “I was in the bush with them for three and I save heavy guns with them before they blindfolded me”.
