4 Killed In Cults Clash In Ondo

Four persons have been reportedly killed in a violent clash between two rival groups of cultists at Ondo, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday.

The clash of the groups, LEADERSHIP learnt, was caused by the movement of some former APC members who had earlier decamped to the Alliance for Democracy but planned to return to the APC.

It was gathered that the development angered some of members and led to confrontation among the members of the rival group.

The victims, apart from being members of the rival cult groups, were alleged to be members of the APC in the State.

A source told our correspondent that the clash started at the APC Secretariat located at Yaba street in Ondo town and later spread to different locations in the town.

According to the source, the corpse of the deceased were found at Odojomu street of the ancient town.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the command had commenced investigation on the matter.

Joseph who noted that the clash had nothing to do with the reception organised for the immediate former governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in Ondo town,said ” It was a clear cult clash. The deceased were members of the cult groups. We have begun investigation on the incident. “

The police PPRO also disclosed that the command had arrested two people in connection with the incident.

Joseph added that the suspects were still under interrogation to know their level of involvement in the matter.
