The Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that it is presently interrogating a fleeing suspected Boko Haram member who was arrested in Ibadan.

The suspected terrorist, who simply identified himself as Alkali, according to the police, was arrested by security operatives after he confessed that he fled from Sambisa forest.

Confirming the arrest on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adekunle Ajisebutu stated that the man was arrested on Sunday night of January 1st by the men of the state police command from Iyaganku Division.

Alkali, according to the police, was apprehended around Alalubosa GRA, Ibadan metropolis, following a tip-off from residents.‎

Ajisebutu said the suspect who was still in detention at the state CID confessed to being a key member of the sect.

He said “Yes, a man was arrested on the night of Sunday January 1st 2017. It is true. He was arrested. The man is still at the state CID for further interrogation.

“The matter is still under investigation at the state CID. Thank you.”

Our correspondent learnt that Alkali claimed that he ran from Sambisa Forest after the place was captured by the military.

According to Daily Post,  the suspect (Alkali) was found roaming about at the Alalubosa GRA.

A source who begged not to be named said Alkali confessed that he fled from Sambisa Forest in Borno State and got to Mobil, Ring Road, Ibadan on foot.

He was immediately accosted by some Hausas who are plying their trade there.

They immediately called the attention of their leader who subjected him to a round of interrogation.

He, however, fled from them, only to be seen at the Alalubosa GRA area by some residents who were curious of his appearance and way of dressing.

The residents of Alalubosa GRA immediately notified the Iyaganku Division of the state police command.

The command, thereafter, sent a team of security personnel to effect his arrest and he was eventually taken to the police station.‎
