Arsenal Pip Crystal Palace 2-0

A spectacular overhead kick from Olivier Giroud and a second goal from Nigerian striker, Alex Iwobi handed Sam Allardyce his first loss as Crystal Palace manager. The result sees Arsenal move into third position in what is a very tough looking Premier League table.

With Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United winning their games, the Gunners knew that nothing but a win would suffice on Sunday night.

Giroud opened the scoring in some style as he converted from an Alexis Sanchez cross in a manner reminiscent of Mkhityran’s goal for Manchester United just a day earlier. Iwobi put the result beyond doubt with a header before Crystal Palace made any sort of serious attempt to score.

Arsenal held on despite some pressure towards the end of the game and are now only nine points behind league leaders, Chelsea.
