Bomb Blast Targetting Public Bus Leaves 5 Dead In Turkey

A bomb blast near a public bus in Turkey on Saturday morning has left at least 5 people dead and another 25 people injured.

The car explosion seemed to target a public bus carrying off-duty soldiers in the central province of Kayseri. The incident comes just a week after a bomb explosion at the Besiktas stadium in Istanbul left 44 people dead and 155 people injured.

A Kurdish militant group called the Kurdish Freedom Hawks claimed responsibility for last week’s bombings but no group has yet claimed responsibility for Saturday’s bombing.

AP reports that the office of Turkish prime minister Binali Yildirim imposed a temporary blackout on coverage of the explosion, urging the media to refrain from causing “fear in the public, panic and disorder and which may serve the aims of terrorist organizations”.
