Manchester City Stun Barcelona 3-1

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola got their pound of flesh at the Etihad on Tuesday night as they beat Barcelona 3-1.

Manchester City two goal hero, Ilkay Gundogan

Pep Guardiola saw his methods come into question following a heavy 4-0 loss to Barcelona at the Camp Noun but his team put up such a stellar performance that his critics were silenced.

Aguero and Zabaleta made it back to the team and despite Kompany being rested during the weekend, John Stones and Otamendi were the preferred center backs.

Despite looking compact, City conceded first as Lionel Messi beat two defenders. City once again looked to be on the wrong end of a beating.

However, to their credit, their enthusiasm and determination ensured they kept pushing and Ilkay Gundogan scored the equalizer in the 39th minute.

Barca looked shell-shocked in the second half and Kevin De Bruyne scored from a free kick to give City the lead. Coty pressed forward but their profligacy meant the match still seemed open.

Suarez squared the ball for Andre Gomes who then struck the bar with only the keeper to beat.

Eventually, it was Gundogan again who put the match beyond doubt with a third goal to send City fans into raptures.
