Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the founder of Iwuanyanwu Nationale Football Club has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop treating the self acclaimed leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, as an important personality.

The renowned politician and businessman urged the president to quickly allow the IPOB leader to have his day in court as that will stop people from treating him as an hero.

He made this statement while speaking at the National Executive Council meeting of the Nigerian Union of journalists, NUJ, in Owerri, on Friday as he added that the Igbo people’s desire is to rule the country not break away from it.

“Igbo people are majority tribe in Nigeria. We are everywhere and doing greatly.”

While speaking on the Niger Delta crisis, Iwuanyanwu chided the militants for blowing up pipelines and oil facilities describing it as an act of stupidity which hinders progress in the region

He however, enjoined the president to with immediate effect summon a meeting of elders in the country in order to find a lasting solution to Niger Delta problems and insurgency.

In his remarks, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State said the unity of the country is non-negotiable saying he will continue to do everything in his capacity to keep the country as one.

“I see myself as an unusual Nigerian. While Igbo parents gave birth to me, I was born in the North, went to school there and even married in the North there. I was empowered by the West. For me, there is no better place to call our own than Nigeria. We must do everything possible to protect the country from those who seek its downfall,” he said.
