Gareth Southgate has formally been offered the role of Head Coach o the England national team and is expected to sign a four-year contract before next week. He will take over from Sam Allardyce who was sacked barely three months into the job after allegations of receiving bribes.
Southgate was named interim manager following Allardyce’s sack and has reportedly been offered a deal worth £1.5 million a year which will run through to 2020. Until his announcement as interim manager, he was in charge of England’s under-21 team.
He is expected to be formally announced as England manager on Monday and his first game will be a friendly against Germany in Dortmund on 22 March before a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley four days later.
