Chinese Zoo Places Dog With Wolves

A Chinese zoo has admitted to placing a dog with wolves.

Officials of the Dezhou Zoo in Shandong Province admitted that one of the animals in its wolf enclosure is a Siberian husky.

The Siberian Husky is a medium size working dog breed that is recognisable by its thickly furred double coat, erect triangular ears, and distinctive markings which makes it strike a resemblance to wolves.

The alarm was raised among animal lovers in China when a video emerged in November 6, showing the Siberian husky with an apparent leg injury inside the wolf enclosure at the Zoo.

Zoo officials admitted the dog was placed with the wolves to make the exhibit more interesting for visitors, but they said the domesticated canine is “respected” by the wolves and the dog’s leg injury was the result of an accident rather than an attack.

The zoo said the husky has been temporary removed from the enclosure to allow its leg wound to heal.
