7 things you need to know about Floyd Mayweather’s new signee, Olufemi Oyeleye

After signing a promotional contract with Mayweather Promotions, Oluwafemi Oyeleye is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment.

The Nigerian boxer, who recently turned professional will now have all his fights promoted by the firm, which was founded by eleven-time world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2007.

As Femi truly establishes himself among the world’s elite, here’s a list of seven things boxing fans may want to know about their new champion.

1.) Oyeleye started boxing when he was in primary school in Maiduguri, Borno state.

2.) According to his father, Coach Ojo Abayomi Oyeleye

Nobody choose boxing for him (Oyeleye), he chose it by himself because he saw me actively involved in it as he was growing.

3.) His first national competition was the National Sports Festival ‘KADA Games 2009’ in Kaduna where he won silver medal.

4.) He later won gold in the 69kg welterweight category boxing event of the 11th All Africa Games competition in Brazzaville, Congo.

5.) After winning gold for Team Nigeria at the boxing event of the AAG, the tournament debutant said his greatest target after the Games feat was to focus on ruling the world boxing.
6.) Before joining the Mayweather team, Oyeleye was training with Team Eagle in the U.S.

7.) Oyeleye who has officially inked a deal to be a member of The Money Team, will make his professional debut at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 2.femi oyeleye
