Imo Issues New Certificate of Occupancy To Property Owners

Rochas Okorocha

The Imo state government has officially flagged off the distribution of new Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to property owners in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, George Eche, who represented Gov Rochas Okorocha at the launching said the move will in a way put an end to land racketeering and forgery in the Ministry of Lands and also boost the State’s Internally Generated Revenue.

Also present at the ceremony which took place at the Imo International Conference Centre in Owerri, was the Commissioner of Lands, Survey and Urban Planning Mr. Law Eberuo who remarked that the new C of O is cheaper to acquire as the processes have also been simplified.

According to him, the state government through the Ministry of Lands has also introduced digitization of ministry to ensure proper data analysis and enhance express search of documents in the ministry.

  1. Mr Governor kindly note that any attempt to re certify already issued C.of O at a cost is completely fraud. Imagine every government that passes-by re certify C.of O just the way you want to start. C.of O is issued only once and not to be re issued continuously by any government that comes into power.
This is Criminal tendency by the government in power and shall be totally opposed..
