A former Edo State House of Assembly lawmaker, Hon. Friday Ogierakahi, has blasted the ruling All Progressive Congress Party, APC, for the present economic situation in the country.
Hon. Ogierakahi who is a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says APC has lost his resolute power with the people due to “the implication of this economic recession, collapse of the Naira, high food and commodity prices, increased crime wave and a general disillusionment on the part of Nigerians, irrespective of their social status.
While addressing the party stalwarts and supporter at Urhonigbe in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, the former lawmaker, yesterday said, it urged the electorate to be ready to vote out APC during the governorship election in the state on September 28.
He said that the administration led by the APC at the federal level lack clear policy direction close to two years in office, adding that their programmes has been anti-people since the party came to power in 2015.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the PDP candidate for the gubernatorial election, while speaking commended party members in the state for their determination and resourcefulness, stated “We wish to thank Edo people, whose overwhelming support for the PDP in our mutual desire to effect a change of governance for the liberation of our people from the manacles of an insensitive, irresponsible and vision less party has been our inspiration and encouragement.”
Meanwhile, Ize-Iyamu maintain a comfortable lead over Godwin Obaseki, the APC candidate, from the informal and formal opinion polls that have been conducted for the upcoming election.
