FG Renames Mining Ministry As It Approves New Development Plan For Sector

In its economic diversification efforts and plans to reposition the mining industry, the Federal Executive Council has adopted a new roadmap for the growth and development of the sector.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the minister in charge of the sector made this known to journalists after the FEC meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday, as he said that the approval for an independent agency to overlook the affairs of the industry has been approved.

He also added that the name of Ministry of Mining and Solid Minerals has been changed to the Ministry of Mining and Steel Development.

Meanwhile, the University of Lagos and the University of Ibadan also got the contract approved for the construction of a university library and international hall respectively during the meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
