Policemen Seal PDP Convention Venue

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is far from over. Following a court order halting the party’s planned national convention in Rivers today, policemen have sealed the venue of the convention.

Ali Modu sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi remain in a bitter dispute over the leadership of the party. Ali Modu Sheriff who was the National chairman claims that he was illegally removed and insists he remains chairman.

Ahmed Makarfi’s caretaker committee, on the other hand, insists that it is the rightful leadership of the party and went ahead to call a convention.

A month ago, a Federal high court ruling declared the Ahmed Makarfi committee unconstitutional and a court order by Justice Okon Abang halted the convention on Tuesday after a High court gave Makarfi’s committee the go-ahead earlier in the same day.
