Leicester City Begin Title Defense With A 2-1 Loss To Hull City

The Premier League is back in all its beautiful unpredictability and last season’s champions, Leicester City were the first to break the ice.

They faced newly promoted Hull City and for many, the match was a foregone conclusion, Leicester City would prove too much for the Premier League’s new boys.

Sadly, Hull City did not get the script as they upset the balance on a fine Saturday afternoon. Despite Leicester having most of the possession in the first half, Hull City drew first blood in spectacular fashion as Diamonde converted from a corner kick.

After the restart, Leicester were handed an easy way in after Huddlestone tripped Gray on the edge of the box resulting in a penalty. Mahrez stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it level.

Leicester failed to take charge of the match and looked shaky in defence. Eventually, a terrible delivery from goalkeeper Schmeichel led to a cross which fell to Snodgrass. Snodgrass wasted no time in putting Hull City up.

Jamie Vardy had a totally shambolic game and he will probably kick himself following this loss. It is Leicester’s first loss in the Premier League since February and Hull are now top of the league even though that’s likely to change before the end of the day!
