Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari seems to have beat a bid by state legislators to impeach him, a plot that has played out for the better part of the last one month.
“We met and resolved our misunderstandings. The cordial relationship between the integral arms has returned,” Gov Yari told journalists shortly after a reconciliation meeting, which lasted for 20 minutes yesterday on Sunday.
The meeting which was presided by the state Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Lawal Kaura, had all the emirs of the state in attendance.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Sanusi Garba Rikiji, while also speaking on the issue said all the terms and conditions for the reconciliation were considered by Governor Yari and the party leadership.
“We have virtually reconciled based on the terms and conditions we have signed. It is obvious that our primary duty as lawmakers is to aspire for the development of the state as contained in the country’s constitution.”
He also gave assurance of the lawmakers’ undivided support and cooperation to the governor, adding that they were satisfied with the level of mediation brokered by the respected politicians and traditional rulers from within and outside the state.
