Edo 2016: Militants’ Plot To Invade Edo Exposed

MilitantsAhead of the September 10, 2016 governorship election in Edo State, Chairman of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee for Edo, Chief Eduwu Ekhator, yesterday raised the alarm over a planned invasion of the state by the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF) to instigate violence.

The NDPVF is a disbanded Niger Delta militant group founded by Mujahid Dokubo Asari.

In a terse statement he issued in Benin City, the state capital to mark the International Youth Day, which was on Friday, August 12, Chief Ekhator described the plot as “evil, ungodly and comprehensively unpatriotic”.

He commended security agencies and other persons who were able to uncover the plot and appealed to politicians to exercise restraint.

“I want to say that political growth and democratic consolidation are the products of rich ideas and civilized interplay of social forces and not the blood of innocent citizens.

“I also want to charge the youths to see themselves as nucleus and catalyst for national development, and I urge every youth to rise above being used as tool for destruction and destabilisation in the country”, he said.
