Deadly Earthquake In Italy Leaves 37 Dead

A deadly earthquake in Italy has left at least 37 people dead. Authorities have confirmed that 150 persons remain missing amid fears that the casualty figures could rise even further.

The earthquake struck the Italian village of Pescara and leveled the entire village. The magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit at 03:36 (01:36 GMT),100km (65 miles) north-east Rome.

Amatrice Mayor Sergio Pirozzi said; “The roads in and out of town are cut off. Half the town is gone. There are people under the rubble. There’s been a landslide and a bridge might collapse,”

“There are tens of victims, so many under the rubble. We’re preparing a place for the bodies,”

A family of four were also trapped under the casualty.
