Boko Haram: U.S To Assist Nigeria Develop Security Plan

Alan Tousignant

The United States government has pledged to help the Federal Government develop a civilian security plan and enhance emergency response in Nigeria’s northeast region.

The U.S. acting Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr Alan Tousignant, who made the promise at a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd), held in Abuja, on Monday said that the assistance would be in the form of technical support.

Mr Tousignant further stated that the technical assistance was part of the security governance initiative of the U.S. government in ensuring peace and security in Nigeria.

General Dambazau, in his remark, praised the development and appreciated the efforts of the U.S government in fighting terrorism in Nigeria. He however, added that the partnership would not include the provision of equipment for troops in the northeast.
