US company invests $1.4bn in OAU

The recent visit of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi ‎(Ojaja II) to the US has obviously yielded great results.

According to This Day, his Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi ‎(Ojaja II) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a US-based company, SpringPort Technological Group, to build a technology, media city and agriculture incubation hub in the town in which the Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy (OAU) is located.

According to This Day, his Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi ‎(Ojaja II) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a US-based company, SpringPort Technological Group, to build a technology, media city and agriculture incubation hub in the town in which the Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy (OAU) is located.

The Ooni had just recently returned friom the US where he had gone to seek the involvement of Africans in the Diaspora in his peace and unity agenda, and also to solicit their support for the continent on developmental projects in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure and youth development.‎ ‎

The signing of this MoU means that the first phase of the project will be underway soon at OAU.

‎The technological hub worth $1.4bn in its first phase is expected to facilitate massive employment of youths in Ile-Ife. After the MoU was signed, the start-up phase for master plan was to begin with investors in London and Asia.

Involved in the project are Maya Angelo Foundation which will be represented by Elliot Jones, Jason Harrison of Tredic Corporation UK and some other American/Asian investors.‎

While signing the MoU, the Ooni of Ife also expressed optimism that the project would not end at OAU but would span development across Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and Africa at large.

Meanwhile, the Ooni of Ife the Ooni of Ife recently stirred up controversy when he talked about his relationship with Jesus.

On Wednesday, June 29, there was an outrage at night after a video of the Ooni of Ife, proclaiming Jesus as his father surfaced on-line. The Ooni who just recently returned from a three week trip to the United States of America, was recently criticized about his visit to Nigerian footballer Obafemi Martins. Nigerians then stated that he should not be going around paying visits as a respected monarch.
