Jigawa Govt Releases N1.16bn For Road Construction

The government of Jigawa State has disbursed N1.16 billion for the commencement of the 104 kilometres Baturiya-Yelwa-Abonabo road project in the state.

Governor Abubakar Badaru made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in in the state capital, adding that the project was awarded by the immediate past administration at the cost N11.5 billion but was later abandoned.

According to the governor, the project which will be completed before May 2019 would be executed in phases, with the first phase gulping N3.9 billion and covering 33 kilometers from Arewawa-Baturiya while the second phase would cover Baturiya-Yelwawa-Abunabo, and the third phase would run from Chafchafno-Kadira-Are-Guri.

He explained that, the project when completed, would impact on the socio-economic wellbeing of the people and reduce rural-urban migration as he pledged his administration’s commitment to undertake projects that will affect the socio-economic well-being of the people of the state.
