BREAKING: Theresa May Named Conservative Party Leader

Theresa May

We have kept you up to speed all day on the change of baton in UK’s conservative party. The battle for the leadership of the party was quickly whittled down to two women, Home secretary Theresa May and Junior Energy Minister, Andrea Leadsom.

Andrea Leadsom dropped out of the race this morning, paving the way for Theresa May to take party leadership unopposed. Britain’s parliamentary system means that the head of the ruling party automatically becomes the Prime Minister.

With David Cameron officially resigning on Wednesday, Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 committee has announced officially that Theresa May will take the reins as Prime Minister.
