APC Hasn’t Justified 2015 Electoral Victory – Ciroma

Adamu-CiromaA founding father of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)‎, Malam Adamu Ciroma, yesterday observed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not proven to Nigerians that it won the 2015 general elections.

The PDP chieftain said the APC-led federal government has not impacted positively on the lives of ordinary Nigerians, and should be challenged for not delivering the desired change it promised to the nation.

Mr. Ciroma, who spoke when members and leaders of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), led by its chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, visited him at his residence in Abuja, on Monday, said the PDP remains the party to beat in the 2019 general elections.

He also noted that the governing APC is already making the same mistakes made by the PDP and charged the party to brace up to the task of correcting such mistakes.

“Politics must always be there and there must be people to participate in it. But we must ensure the economic stability of the ordinary citizens. Every party that has the chance to rule also has the chance to make mistakes, but, I insist, people must play the right role in politics and that role must impact positively on the ordinary people.

“I want the APC to play the rightful role. They talked about the PDP now as if the APC does not exist. The APC must make mistakes, so, all of you (PDP leaders) must be ready”, he said.

The former Finance Minister recalled that prior to the last general elections, he warned PDP leaders to be ready for any eventuality that takes place.

“Today, PDP didn’t lose and APC didn’t win because APC has a lot to do”, he said.

Earlier, the BoT chairman explained the purpose of the visit, saying it was to seek advice from Ciroma on how to deepen internal democracy in the PDP and Nigeria at large.

Also, a former minister of Information, Prof Jerry Gana, who was part of the delegation, said “Nigeria is going through difficult times”.

The meeting was attended by a former President of the Senate, Chief Adolphus Wabara; his erstwhile Deputy, Ibrahim Mantu; Senator Stella Omu, Taminu Turaki and Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (rtd), among others.
