Retract Your Allegations Or Face Lawsuit- Aisha Buhari Tells Fayose

Ayo Fayose-Aisha Buhari

The wife of the president, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has demanded a retraction of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s allegation in which he claimed to have uncovered how she was mentioned as having transferred funds to a convicted former United States (U.S.) Congressman, Williams Jefferson.

The Ekiti State governor made the allegation while reacting to the freezing of his personal bank accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday.

In spite of the Presidency’s denial of President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife in the bribery scandal, Mr. Fayose insisted she was the one and dared Mrs. Buhari to take a trip to the U.S to prove her innocence or otherwise.

In her first official reaction to the allegation, the wife of the president, in a letter authorized by her legal attorneys and dispatched to Fayose via courier on Wednesday, said the governor’s action was directly responsible for the publication of the “very wild and unfounded” allegations in the media against her.

In the letter titled: “Demand for unqualified retraction of the false statement published by you in various media on the 20th of June, 2016, and subsequent dates regarding our client, Her Excellency, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR”, she gave the governor five working days to retract the statement or face a legal action.

The letter signed by Ismaila Alasa and Mary Ekpene, on behalf of the law firm, said: “Our client has referred to us statement made by you and published on the 20th of June, 2016 (and other subsequent days) concerning and pertaining to her person for necessary action.

“The said statement which was caused by you and your agents to be widely circulated and published in various media platforms: print, electronic and online on 20th of June, 2016, contains very wild, unfounded and false allegations and imputations against the person of our client.

“Specifically, in the said statement credited to you and signed by your Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, you, inter alia, falsely stated as follows:

“Even the president cannot claim to be an angel. The estate he built in Abuja is known to us. His wife was indicted over the Halliburton scandal (sic). When that American, Jefferson, was being sentenced, the President’s wife was mentioned as having wired $170,000 to Jefferson. Her name was on page 25 of the sentencing of Jefferson. We can serialise the judgement for people to see and read”.

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
