APC Seeks ‘Effective and Speedy’ Implementation Of 2016 Budget

John Odigie-OyegunThe governing All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday ‎hailed the signing of Nigeria’s 2016 Appropriation Bill into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued in Abuja on behalf of the APC, the national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, also commended the Senate and House of Representatives for its successful consideration and passage of the 2016 National Budget.
“The APC calls on Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure effective and speedy implementation of the 2016 Appropriation Act so that the objectives of the unprecedented N6.06 trillion 2016 National ‘Budget of Change’ will be realised. Commendably, 30 per cent of the 2016 budgetary provision has been committed to capital projects”, Mr. Odigie-Oyegun.
The governing party also commended Nigerians for their patience and understanding during the consideration, passage and eventual presidential assent to the 2016 Appropriation Act, stating that the 2016 budget caters for many of the promises made to the Nigerian electorate by the party.
“The APC assures Nigerians that the 2016 budget caters for many of the promises made to the Nigerian electorate by the party in the course of the 2015 presidential campaign. This includes the safety net created to cater for the poorest and most vulnerable Nigerians amongst other pro-people developmental policies.
“Already, the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has announced that the implementation of the 2016 budget will focus on 34 key programmes grouped under four thematic areas – security/policy governance, diversification of economy, succour for vulnerable Nigerians, and reflating the economy through investments.
“The APC hereby calls on all stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to support and ensure the success of the laudable programmes contained in the 2016 National budget as they will positively affect every facet of Nigeria’s socio-economic life”, the statement read.

The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has declared his intention to lead the #EndSARS protest against police brutality ongoing nationwide.

He stated this during an interview with Africa Independent Television AIT on Monday night.

Bello called on his fellow state governors to tack charge in their respective states so as to prevent loss of lives and properties due to attacks by hoodlums.

He, however, warned Nigerian youths to resist the temptation of using the current situation in the country to seek an undemocratic change in leadership.

The Governor warned that those interested in the presidency must wait till 2023 and go through democratic processes.

He urged the protesting youths to leave the streets and embrace dialogue.

He explained that his telephone numbers were posted on social media, thereby, making people reach out to him with curses.

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sent a condolence message to Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde over the passing away of his mother.

Recall that InformationNigeria earlier reported that Governor Makinde of Oyo State on Thursday lost his mother, Chief Abigail Makinde.

The governor’s mother passed on at age 81.

Reacting to the news, Sanwo-Olu prayed for the dead and consoled the bereaved via his official Twitter handle on Thursday. He wrote:

“I commiserate with Governor @seyiamakinde on the passing to eternal glory of his dear mother, Mrs Abigail Makinde.

While I extend my condolences to the Makinde family, I pray that God grants them the grace and courage to bear the loss. May mama’s soul rest eternally.”
