Edo 2016: Don’t Heat Up Polity, Bello-Osagie Cautions APC Guber Aspirants

APC-Logo1A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State and former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Rasaq Bello-Osagie, has pleaded with governorship aspirants on the APC platform to market themselves to delegates of the party rather than dissipate energy and resources heating up the polity.
Mr. Osagie, who spoke in Benin City, the state capital on Monday, decried the campaigns of calumny and sponsored write-ups in the media by some of the aspirants, saying such ill-advised steps will work against the party in the build up to the September 10 governorship election in the state.
He said that “engaging in frivolities, fruitless campaign of calumny through orchestrated write-ups, unbridled character assassination and engaging on a voyage of forensic discovery like the historical events of Mongo Park will not help them or the party in the forthcoming governorship election.
“What I consider desirable at this time is for aspirants to exhibit their skills and potentials, unveil their programmes and capacity to creatively manage the meagre resources of the state and harness the inherent window of untapped opportunities which include but not limited to a coordinated expansion of our tax net and a more efficient tax administration without necessarily putting unrealistic burden on the people”.
