Senate President Bukola Saraki has commiserated with those affected in today’s terrorist attack in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Two suicide bombers this morning attacked a mosque in the northern city, killing 22 people and injuring 18.

“My heart goes out to the victims and all families affected by today’s terrorist attack in Maiduguri,” Saraki said in a Facebook post. “At this time that Nigeria is winning the domestic war on terror, the cowardice being displayed by enemies of our peace, progress and unity by attacking innocent civilians is despicable.

“As we steer through these crucial times, we must continue to pray for and support our troops on the frontlines, render assistance to our internally displaced people, and remain optimistic that collectively, we can surmount any difficulties and end act of cowardice,” the Senate president said.
