IPOB’s Attack On Okorocha, Igbo Leaders Embarrassing – Group

An Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Main Igbo Movement (MIM), has warned all pro-Biafran groups, especially the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), to desist from threatening credible Igbo sons in the course of its agitation.

The group was reacting to last Wednesday’s attack on Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State by an IPOB member when the governor was delivering a speech at the Chatham House, London.

MIM said it will not condone further harassment of Igbo leaders by any group under any guise.

A statement issued weekend by its President-General, Nze Simon Okokwe, said the London incident was unacceptable and should be condemned by all Igbo.

The statement reads: “The recent attack on the Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha in a foreign land by faceless hoodlums brandishing Biafran flag and claiming to be Biafra agitators is most embarrassing, not only to the governor but the entire Igbo. It shows the level we have degenerated.

“In as much as we have nothing against peaceful agitation for any course whatsoever, including Biafra, we condemn in its entirety, any plan to coerce anyone to join or support any agitation, including the Biafra struggle.

“To this end we are demanding an unreserved apology to Ndigbo and Okorocha for the humiliation meted to an illustrious Igbo son.

“While we are not supporting any political party or politician, recent happenings in Igboland has warranted that we take stringent measures to purge ourselves of all tendencies to become a lawless people. It is our candid advice that all pro-Biafra groups be guided by the law of the land and the mutual respect for our culture, which forbids unrestrained behaviours.

“To this end, we say enough is enough otherwise we will expose the criminals hiding under the guise of Biafra agitation to perpetrate crime”.

I’m wondering where this so called Main Igbo Movement were when Rochas Okorocha was calling for the heads of peaceful Biafra agitators while at same time endorsing the murder of unarmed Pro-Biafra agitators.

Why didn’t you rise up to condemn these crimes? I think members of MIM are either drunk or simply want some share of the national loots.

Besides whom do they refer to as faceless hudlums? It the protesting IPOB members or themselves. I suppose they are the hudlums because this group are bunch of charlatans who have lost the moral right to speak that affects the Igbo race. Indeed you’re very embarrassing set of aimless people.

I recommend MIN to remain silent or get prepared to go on self exile when sun rises.

The Honorable President-General of MIM, Nze Simon Okokwe should not be speaking in defense of man who has no respect for the rule of law. A man who forced the legislative arm of the Government to go on strike, and made them mere messengers. A man who does not respect court orders. A man who refused to pay pensioners and civil servants their pensions and salaries – leaving them to die. A man who runs the State as he runs his wife’s kitchen. The State Government has become his business. President-General, Nze Simon Okokwe has no good grounds to speak in honor of such a man.

If the President-General, Nze Simon Okokwe is fighting an honest course and knows of any criminals hiding under the guise of Biafra agitation to perpetrate crime he should expose such people and distance himself from them. Nze Simon Okokwe’s threat seems to show that he is working with people he considers criminal. This marriage of convenience has great potentials to start serious conflicts if the Biafran state were to become a reality.

“In the first place, the reason, why everybody should join politics, is to serve the people. The essence of government is to shield the poor masses and ensure justice,” he said.

“My main mission of joining the APC is because I have seen justice, I have seen development and I have seen the desire for the leadership at the highest peak to sacrifice their personal comfort just to make the poor people feel good. So I am in the APC to deliver, I am into the APC to help the people.”

The lawmaker promised to work to make sure the APC takes back Adamawa State from the PDP in 2023.
