Early Morning Fire Guts Kebbi Central Market

FIRE-1An early morning fire has gutted the Birnin Kebbi Central market in Kebbi State, destroying goods and property worth several millions of naira.
The fire started around 12 am on Saturday and destroyed a large part of the market before it was put out, Daily Trust reports.
Chairman of the Birnin Kebbi Market Association, Alhaji Umar Danguna Gwandangwaji, who conducted newsmen round the section that was gutted by fire, said this was not the first time they had experienced such outbreak in the market.
He, however, promised that an investigation would be carried out to ascertain the cause of the inferno.
Earlier, the Emir of Gwandu, Mohammadu Iliyasu Bashar, during a visit to the market, expressed dismay over the incident.
Emir Bashar urged the affected traders to take heart while assuring them of government support.
Also, the Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government and the General Manager in-charge of the market, Mohammad Abubakar Ambursa, assured the people that government would look into the fire incident and support the affected traders.
