Supreme Court Verdict: Oyo Finally Freed From Distractions By Ladoja, Says Ajimobi

Abiola Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said that the Supreme Court judgment of Tuesday, affirming him as winner of the April 11, 2015 governorship election has finally, freed the state from what he described as “ill-advised distractions, represented by the petition of the Accord Party”.

The AP candidate and former governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, had approached the governorship elections petition tribunal to nullify Ajimobi’s election and when he failed, he went to the Appeal Court, which also turned down his request.

He finally approached the apex court in a bid to set aside the judgments of the lower courts and grant his prayer nullifying the election but his appeal was thrown out on Tuesday for lack of merit.

While accepting the pronouncement of the Supreme Court, which finally brought to an end all litigations surrounding his election as governor, Ajimobi, in a statement issued by his special adviser on communication and strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, dedicated his victory at the courts to God and the people of the state.
