MURIC Cautions Fayose Against Playing Politics With Religion

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has advised Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State not to play politics with religion and be mindful of his utterances.

This followed Fayose’s allegation against President Muhammadu Buhari of trying to Islamise Nigeria by visiting Saudi Arabia.

The group gave the advice in a statement issued yesterday by its Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, in Ibadan.

The statement said Fayose had failed woefully on his attempt to whip up religious sentiment, saying even a 10-year old Nigerian child knew the reason for Buhari’s visit to Saudi Arabia.

“Turbulence in the price of oil has greatly impoverished Nigeria and Buhari is employing diplomacy to turn round Nigeria’s oil fortune. Playing pranks with Buhari’s visit to Saudi Arabia simply shows that Fayose has lost all sense of objectivity.

“Nigerians should help us ask Fayose where he was when his erstwhile mentor and former president Jonathan turned Jerusalem to the back-yard of Aso Rock, shuttling between Nigeria and Israel.

“Fayose prefers to cast a wicked joke with the fate of the Nigerian economy”, MURIC said.

It said Nigerians were tired of Fayose’s noise, adding the governor was not paying any attention to the problems of his state.

The group urged Fayose to work hard as Ekiti State governor and deliver the dividend of democracy to his people instead of working as a PDP megaphone round the clock.
