Buhari Not Focusing On Anti-corruption At The Expense Of Other Parts Of Governance – APC Chieftain

Published

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the ongoing anti-graft war by President Muhammadu Buhari is not in any way affecting governance.

The National Auditor of the party, Chief George Moghalu‎, made this assertion while interacting with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

“I want to disagree with such insinuations. We are not going to spend the four years in fighting corruption. As you know, corruption is being fought and it is fighting back.

“In the same vein, other aspects of governance are being addressed; governance has not stopped in any sector because Mr President and his government are confronting corruption frontally.

“Governance is running side by side with the fight against corruption.

“Infrastructure is being addressed, issues of the power sector is being addressed, agriculture, science and technology are being addressed alongside fighting corruption, because it is one of the cardinal promises made by the government during the campaign,” Moghalu said

While the APC chieftain admitted the slow speed of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, he blamed on the past government which he said left so much rot.

“We are very much on course,” he said. “You see, when we talk about these eight months, we must also consider the level of decay, the level of rot that the APC government is confronted with.

“It will be most unfair for anybody to expect that the rot and damage to the economy, to the Nigerian state, to infrastructure and everything will be repaired in eight months.

“It is not fair to the government. ‎We all know from what we are seeing and hearing, the quantum of damage is unimaginable.

“So, we need to give the government all the support, encourage government, pray for the leaders so that they will continue in the part they are following.

“If you look at it, there is a methodical commitment to actually set objective and that objective which I know is to implement the APC manifesto which is well written and a collection of the reaction and expectations of the people.

“And once that is implemented, I guarantee you that Nigeria will get back on course.”

“My appeal is that we should be patient. We are almost there, it can’t be worse.

“Let us be a little bit patient, support government in prayer and by any means we can, so that government can remain on course.

“I am confident that with what has happened and the target they have set for themselves, I am certain that we will soon get to our destination,” Moghalu said.

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
