Senate To Commence 2016 Budget Consideration Tuesday

Buhari-BudgetThe senate will tomorrow, Tuesday, commence the consideration of the 2016 budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari before a joint session of the National Assembly on December 22, Senate leader, Ali Ndume said on Sunday.

The three weeks recess embarked upon by the lawmakers hours after Buhari presented the N6.8tr budget proposal to them will elapse tomorrow.

Speaking by telephone, Ndume as a prelude to the commencement of deliberations on the Appropriation Bill, copies of the budget would be made available to the senators on resumption to enable them make necessary legislative input into the document.

In addition to the budget, Senator Ndume said they will consider pending bills that are in second reading including the North East Development Commission (NEDC).

“Immediately we resume on Tuesday, we will start looking at the budget to enable us finish it on time. We will also look on pending bills and all other issues of national importance that come up”, he said.
