Nasarawa: 2016 Budget Will Place Emphasis On Rural Devt, Vulnerable People – Al-Makura

Umaru-Tanko-Al-Makura1Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State has said that the 2016 budget would place more emphasis on rural community development and promotion of inclusive society by servicing policies and programmes that would give youths, women and the physically challenged the enabling environment to realize their potentialities.

The governor stated this yesterday in Lafia, the state capital, shortly after swearing in 13 special advisers and four permanent secretaries.

He said: “In the 2016 budget, more emphasis would be placed on rural development and we shall provide equal playing ground for the vulnerable which include persons living with disability, women, the poor and unemployed youths”.

Mr. Al-makura pointed out that his administration is no longer in a hurry and would not be subjected to trial and errors of the past four years, assuring that “we have been able to evolve a homegrown template for development and we know our mission and have a road map to achieve our set objectives for Nasarawa State”.

“We are weighed down by heavy recurrent expenditure but I have no intention of joining issues on minimum wage; I assure you of our commitment to the welfare of workers”, he added.

Meanwhile, Governor Al-makura said henceforth, special advisers would be part of the State Executive Council on the premise that they would add value to governance through the broad spectacle.
