Amnesty Office To Ex-Agitators: We’ll Clear All Arrears On Tuesday

Amnesty-Paul-BorohThe Presidential Amnesty Office has assured beneficiaries of the Amnesty programme that they would be paid their two months stipends not later than Tuesday, 15th December, 2015.

The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig. General Paul Boroh (rtd), who made the disclosure Thursday, also expressed satisfaction with the cooperation, understanding and support of the beneficiaries, which he said had seen peace return to the once restive Niger Delta Region.

The beneficiaries of the Amnesty Programme had inundated the Presidential Amnesty Programme with a number of enquiries over the delay in the payment of their October and November, 2015 monthly stipends.

The Amnesty Office had attributed the non-payment of their stipends to delay in the release of its quarterly federal allocation, which has now been received.

Gen. Boroh also assured that 1,225 of the beneficiaries will be empowered before the end of December, 2015 to set up their own businesses and become self-sufficient.

He, however, appealed to beneficiaries and 2,500 others that had been previously empowered, to strive to hire unemployed youths in their areas.

Boroh further assured them that concerted efforts are on to ensure the sustainable reintegration of all beneficiaries and urges them to continue channeling whatever complaints they have through the normal means of communication or to make use of the 24-Hour Amnesty Call Centre on 0809-0088-337 or 0703 5611-612.
