Strategies Aimed At Ending Traffic Robbery Are Working – Lagos Police

The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday said its strategies towards combating traffic robbery in the state have started yielding results.
 
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, DSP Joe Offor, the Force said it recently arrested some perpetrators of the act.
 
“After a distress call by a victim of motor traffic robbery at Osborne area of Ikoyi, on Monday, 2nd November 2015 at about 1800hrs which was promptly responded to by a team of Anti-Robbery Squad stationed at Ikoyi Police Division the patrol team arrested one Mr. Owolabi Oyewumi and Lekan Azeez and Afolarin in whose possession one motorcycle was recovered.
 
“Also on the 3rd November 2015, the Tactical Operational Point (TOP) mounted by the operatives of Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) accosted two motorcycles with two occupants each moving menacingly at Iyana Oba Bus-Stop.
 
“Immediately the operatives forced the motorcycles to a halt, all the occupants jumped into the swamps abandoning the motorcycles and bags which when opened led to the recovery of the following items: Two (2) Motorcycles,One (1) Pump Action Gun,Two (2) Live cartridges ,Twenty-Two (2) Assorted Hand Phones, One Laptop and a camcoder.”
 
He disclosed that the owners of some of the recovered items have identified themselves for possible collection while effort is on to track down the fleeing hoodlums. 
 
“We therefore [reiterate] our earlier assurance to Lagosians of our unwavering determination to put measures that will guarantee safety of life and property, especially this yuletide period. Police is your friend and helper.” Offor said.
