It Is Irresponsible To Disclose My Salary – Amadi

The Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, was on Wednesday asked by journalists to disclose his emolument but he declined.

The NERC boss had convened a press conference to clarify the alleged approval of N2.7billion to himself and his commissioners as severance package during which he was asked about his salary after he debunked the N2.7billion claim.

“I have the temptation to say it is X, but it is irresponsible of me or anybody to disclose it. I don’t know anywhere in the world where chief executives or senior management persons or commissioners have said on air we earn this or that,” Amadi said.

“Even if you are earning N2, 000 you don’t say it. Even in most the most developed parts of the world you don’t say it. What we do is what FOI Act has provided for you. If you want to know you can put in a request and they will give it to you.  So if I want to grandstand and say my salary is X, it is totally irresponsible. It is unnecessary. It doesn’t show leadership quality.”
