Gulak Not In A Position To Speak For North-East On PDP Crisis – Ardo

Published

on

Ahmed GulakA former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, Dr Umar Ardo, has dissociated himself from a statement by Ahmed Ali Gulak that the North-east zone may withdraw from the PDP over the failure of the party to allow the region fill the  national chairmanship position of the party.

It would be recalled that Gulak, who was a Special Adviser on Political Matters to former President Goodluck Jonathan, had said in Abuja on Tuesday that members of the party from the North-east zone may pull out from the PDP if the chairmanship tussle was not properly addressed.

Gulak, who is an aspirant for the national chairmanship of the party, threatened that if the acting national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, did not organise bye-elections to fill the position which was left vacant by resignation of Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu in May, they would be left with no option but to leave the party.

Reacting to the threat, Ardo, who was one time Special Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Local Government Affairs, Wednesday in Abuja, stressed that while it is Gulak’s inalienable right to bare his mind, it was wrong for him or anyone else to speak for others without their consent.

“But he (Gulak) has instituted a court case on the matter, why is he still talking when he should have allowed the court to act accordingly? Has he lost confidence in the court and the judiciary? He can only speak for himself, he cannot speak for us in the North-east, he did not have such mandate”, Ardo said.
