Senate Defers Amaechi’s Screening

Rotimi-AmaechiThe anticipated screening of former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as a minister, has been suspended.

The decision to defer Amaechi’s screening was sequel to the inability of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to submit the report of its findings on the petition against the former governor’s nomination as minister.

Chairman of the committee, Sen. Simon Anyanwu, noted that because of the screening exercise on Tuesday, the committee was not able to put the report together.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, mandated the committee to ensure that the report is ready for subsequent treatment on Thursday.

As a result of the non-availability of the committee’s report, Amaechi will most likely not be screened on Wednesday as scheduled.
