Obasanjo’s SUV Allegedly Suffers Tyre Burst On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday narrowly escaped death along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

According to reports, Obasanjo was on his way to the 80th birthday ceremony of the Pool Manager, Sir Kesington Adebunkola Adebutu, when the incident happened.

The rear tyres of the Lexus SUV in which he was travelling burst along the road, Thisday learnt, adding that the vehicle lost control but the former President alighted safely from the vehicle and joined another one in his convoy.

The former president made Adebutu’s 80th birthday church service, after which he reportedly traveled out of the country.

Head of Media Relations and Strategy for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bisi-Kazeem, however, said Obasanjo was never involved in any crash as reported by some news outfit.

According to him, the former president’s vehicle had a blown up tyre after which he moved into his back-up vehicle to continue his journey. He said the tyre was eventually changed and the vehicle left the scene around Sagamu interchange on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
