The immediate past governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Usman Dakingari, has been picked up by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegations of money laundering.
Dakingari was reportedly detained at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday morning, according to SaharaReporters.
He is currently being grilled by a crack team of EFCC investigators.
Dakingari, who is an in-law to late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, is accused of laundering N3.8billion of the state’s funds while he was governor of Kebbi under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, between 2007 and 2015,
Dakingari is the third governor to be a guest of the EFCC in recent weeks after ex-governors Godswill Akpabio and Gabriel Suswam of Akwa Ibom and Benue States respectively were quizzed by the anti-graft agency on their tenures in office.
