Aisha-Buhari-Condolence-Visit-AwolowoThe Awolowo family on Thursday said in terms of governance, President Muhammadu Buhari is walking on the path laid down by their patriarch, late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

The family made this known when the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, and the Vice-President’s wife, Dolapo Osibajo, who is also a grand-daughter of the late sage, paid a condolence visit to the family in Ikenne, Ogun State, over the demise of their matriarch, Hannah Awolowo.

Addressing the visitors, the eldest daughter of the late Premier of the old Western Region, Omotola Oyediran, said the Awolowo family would continue to rally support for the Buhari administration towards its success and a better Nigeria.

She said their late parents left behind big shoes to fill, and called on Nigerians not to abandon them following the demise of their parents.

“We cannot talk of Mama without talking about Papa. Our parents had left big shoes for us, we shall not disappoint the nation and I call on Nigerians not leave us alone”, Ms. Oyediran said.

Earlier in her brief remark, Mrs. Buhari said the country would remain appreciative of the positive role the deceased played towards the growth of the nation, emphasizing that she would continue to be remembered.

The wife of the president noted that the late Mama Awolowo was a dutiful wife and mother and the family’s backbone.
