MDGs: Govs Forum To Meet Ban Ki-moon Sunday

NGFThe Nigerian Governors Forum led by Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, is scheduled to meet United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon on Sunday.

The decision is one of the resolutions reached by the governors at the end of their meeting, which held at the Transcorp HIlton Hotel Abuja on Wednesday.

The NGF chairman, Yari, said the meeting would “discuss among others, the Sustainable Development Goals, the successor programme to the Millennium Development Goals and the envisaged role of State Governors, as critical stakeholders in its implementation”.

He said the meeting is a follow-up to Mr. Moon’s meeting with the Forum which held on May 2011.

The meeting also resolved that sequel to the presentation made by the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, NDPHC, and exhaustive discussions on the operations of the National Integrated Power Project, NIPP, the Forum resolved to appeal for a more comprehensive power sector policy and strategy, with a view to achieving a holistic solution to the power situation in the country.

The Forum also commiserated with the governor and the people of Borno State on the passing of the state Deputy Governor, Zannah Mustapha, who died last weekend in Yola, Adamawa state.
