Five Home-Based Eagles to Join Squad for Tanzania

Head coach of the Nigeria senior national team, Sunday Oliseh, has revealed that only five players from the domestic league will make his 23-man squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier away to Tanzania.

All twenty-three invited players from the Glo Premier League began training at the Abuja National Stadium on Tuesday under the close watch of the new Super Eagles coach.

Oliseh expressed satisfaction with the fitness level of the home-based invitees.

“I am impressed with their fitness level,” the former Eagles skipper told newsmen on Tuesday. “It’s our session and what we are doing is to introduce to them how we want to play.

“The training was not bad but we have a lot of work to do. All we need is for the players to remember what we are working on and we will be fine.

“I am optimistic, but we have to get everybody on ground to know how optimistic we should be. But we also need to be realistic because we know we have to get the train on ground also.”
