Nigeria’s under-23 national team returned back to the country after their successful mission to Pointe-Noire, where they dismissed hosts Congo in a 2015 Caf Championship final qualifying match on Sunday.
Nigeria drew goalless away to Congo but emerged 2-1 aggregate victors, enough to secure their progress to the group stages of the Africa U-23 Championship billed for Senegal later in the year.
Head coach of the Dream Team VI, Samson Siasia, has given his players a one-week break. The team will reconvene in Abuja later in the month to prepare for next month’s All-Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
Nigeria are drawn in Group B along with defending champions Ghana, Egypt and Senegal in the All-African Games.
This year’s All-Africa Games is scheduled to run from 4 to 19 September, while the Caf U-23 Championship begins 28 November through 12 December.
