West Brom Sign Rickie Lambert from Liverpool

West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of Rickie Lambert from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.

The England striker, who scored twice in 25 league matches for Liverpool last season, has penned a two-year deal with the Baggies.

“Rickie is a good, strong, solid player who is a great character, good in the dressing room and good on the pitch,” West Brom boss Tony Pulis told the club’s website.

“He is a player of great pedigree and we look forward to integrating him into our squad.”

Lambert started his career in Liverpool’s academy before signing a professional contract with Blackpool in 2000.

After successful spells with Macclesfield Town, Stockport County and Rochdale, the 33-year-old forward joined Bristol Rovers in 2006.

He scored 51 league goals in 128 appearances for the Memorial stadium outfit, attracting interest from Southampton- a club he would later help guide into the English top flight, scoring 88 goals in just three seasons.

Liverpool signed Lambert from Southampton on a two-year deal in summer 2014 for an initial ÂŁ4 million transfer fee plus add-ons after his impressive performance two seasons ago when he netted 13 goals in 37 league games.

Lambert, who has been handed shirt No. 17 at West Brom, could face his former club, Bristol, tonight in a pre-season friendly.

He has won 11 caps for England, scoring three goals.
