Sunshine Stars Beat Bayelsa to Retain Poll Position in GloNPFL

Sunshine Stars maintained their top-of-the-table berth in the Glo Premier League after seeing off Bayelsa United 2-0 on Sunday.

The Akure Gunners now have 33 points from 17 matches, while Bayelsa United have notched up 17 points from a possible 51.

Kingsley Eduwo opened scoring for the leaders in the opening minute at the Akure Township stadium.

Tunde Adeniji scored his eighth goal of the season to double Sunshine’s lead nine minutes after the hour mark.

Shooting Stars thrashed Giwa FC 3-0 at home, courtesy of goals from Ajani Ibrahim (20′ and 37′) and Nojeen Oluloku (41′).

Both teams ended the match with ten men apiece after 3SC’s Izu and James Ambrose of Giwa received respective marching orders in the 73rd minute.

Shooting Stars are 11th with 23 points, while Giwa are down to fifth with 28 points.

Warri Wolves snapped Enyimba’s ten-match unbeaten run (in all competitions) at the Warri City stadium on Sunday.

Abu Azeez’s match winner on 65 minutes sealed the day for the Seasiders following Christian Obiozor’s equaliser for the visitors from the penalty spot, a minute after Gbolahan Salami’s opener.

Enyimba are down to third on 30 points, while Wolves leaped up to the top half of the standings with 23 points from 17 matches.
