Raheem Sterling is on his way to Manchester City for contract negotiation and an imminent move away from Liverpool, after the Anfield club confirmed it has reached agreement with the dethroned Premier League champions.
Liverpool have agreed a fee of over £49m with Man City for the transfer of Sterling.
The 20-year-old has officially requested a move away from Merseyside, but was included in Reds’ 30-man squad for pre-season tour of Asia- though latter withdrawn.
The ratification of the deal, which will see Sterling become the most expensive English player ever, is subject to negotiation of personal terms and a medical.
The winger is under contract until 2017, but has already turned down a new £100,000 per week deal at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers’ men had rejected two bids from City in June.
Liverpool are said to have opted to leave him out of the tour of Thailand, Australia and Malaysia after the player reported for duty.
