Dissolved NDDC Board Spent Over N4bn To Sponsor PDP Elections, Ex-militant Leaders Claim

nddc1Former militant leaders in the Niger Delta region have commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s dissolution of the Niger Delta Development Commission Board.

The ex-militants, who spoke under the aegis of the Niger Delta Watchdogs, described the dissolution of the NDDC board as a welcome development to the people.

In a statement they issued on Thursday, the ex-militants said that while former President Olusegun Obasanjo established the NDDC for the development of the region, the immediate dissolved board turned the commission to an institution for sponsoring “Peoples Democratic Party elections” in 2015.

The statement signed by one ‘General’ John Duku on behalf of the NDWD and three others, alleged that the NDDC spent over N4bn to sponsor PDP elections when abandoned projects belonging to the commission littered the entire Niger Delta region.

Calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate the immediate past board of the commission, the ex-militant leaders urged President Buhari to appoint a technocrat and God-fearing person as the new managing director of the NDDC.
