Congratulations! So, you finally got engaged. It has just been an hour since you exchanged rings, and your relatives and friends have already started bombarding you with all sorts of questions. Well, people always seem more excited about the entire event than the duo themselves. And, this excitement often leads to too many uncomfortable questions. It does not matter to these people that you are still trying to accept this new change in your life.

Usually it is the bride-to-be who has to face most of these questions, as it is she who has to adjust in a new house. The groom-to-be also gets a few uncomfortable questions, but mostly they are pardoned. So, let us look at some of the annoying questions people ask right after you get engaged.

#1. So, when is the D-Day?

Hearing this, you would feel like reacting, “Well, I got engaged only yesterday. So, I need time to breathe as of now!” But, you never speak that out loud of course, unless the date has already been decided. Otherwise, you can just say “Our families are discussing it. Let us see what date is finalised.” Moreover, if your wedding day is more than a year away, then be prepared for another round of questions like, “How did your family agree for such a long courtship?” or “Why are you waiting for so long?”

#2. What did you like about him?
Well, expect this question if yours is an arranged marriage. Overenthusiastic relatives might also ask about the conversation the two of you had before saying ‘yes’. Topics like ‘the first meeting’, ‘his qualities that impressed you the most’, etc. are the most frequent ones. However, the most annoying questions come from the snoopy aunts who boldy ask things like, “Does he drink or smoke?”, “Ladka karta kya hai?” and “Kitna kamata hai?”

#3. Will you work after marriage?
If you say ‘no’ to this, then the follow-up question would be, “What is the use of studying so much?” or “How can you just stay at home all day?” You might feel the urge to reply with simply an eye roll. And, if you think saying ‘yes’ would save you from all this nonsense, well then you are mistaken. People will add another set of questions like, “Oh! Your in-laws agreed?” and “How will you manage work and home together?”

#4. Will you be staying in a joint family or a nuclear one?

Well, some relatives cannot wait to pop this question. Some married friends might also ask you this question, especially those who have had some bitter experiences staying in a joint family or with in-laws. If you agree for a ‘joint family’, then be prepared for a whole range of questions on the kind of in-laws you have, number of siblings your fiancé has, and so much more. However, if you say ‘a nuclear one’, then all you will get to hear is, “Wow, lucky you!”

#5. Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Well, what people really want to know is how much you are going to spend on your honeymoon. You might feel like asking them, “Why? Do you want to come along with me as kabab mein haddi?” But, you simply cannot. So, if anyone asks you this question, then try to fake it a little, and throw around some common honeymoon destination names like “Singapore, Malaysia or Europe”

#6. When will you have kids?

Well, this is another question that will make you cringe. You might want to scream, “That is none of your business,” but you cannot. You can try to shut them up by saying something as absurd as, “We have decided we will have a whole cricket team, and start working on it right away,” while giggling insanely. We promise you this answer will render all your nosy aunts speechless. While they recover, just find your exit from the room, and spare yourself any more such annoying questions.

Being overweight or obese can be detrimental to your health. It is not advisable to have excess fat in the abdominal cavity because it can lead to some health issues. Getting your dream body will not be easy and you need to make some sacrifices to your diet. You will also need to turn a blind eye to some fatty foods.

If you’re ready to get rid of the belly fat, then stay put as Information Nigeria brings you some important tips that will help.

1. Avoid sugar and carbonated drinks

Did you know that consuming sugary substances like coke, fanta can lead to weight gain and a number of health problems like high blood pressure?. This is due to the high fructose content found in added sugars. Taking sugar-filled drinks may slow your metabolism and this in turn can make it harder for your body to burn fat. Fructose can only be metabolized by your liver. When you consume too much, you push your liver to its limit and it becomes overloaded, then it turns the fructose into fat and it ends up getting stored in your belly. To avoid putting yourself from risk, you should cut back on foods and drinks that contain huge amounts of sugar.

2. You also have to forgo junk foods like meat pie, cakes, rolls, candies, burgers, ice cream and cookies. You also need to do away with heavy foods like eba, akpu, pounded yam, rice among others. Switch up your eating habits and opt for a more balanced-diet if you want to burn your belly fat. Avoid consuming refined carbs like bread, pizza, potation chips etc. You should also stay away from processed and heavy foods because they contribute to stubborn belly fat. You should choose to eat proteinous foods like fish, eggs, and milk. starch contains fat, sugar and salt. They help a person feel fuller so you don’t end up looking for something to munch on after eating. It basically keeps hunger at bay.

3. Eat the right amount of fruits, vegetables, fibrous foods and whole grains – You can add vegetables, fruits and whole grains to your weight loss diet. They provide essential vitamins, minerals, fiber and other substances that are good for your body. Examples of fibre rich foods include; beans, broccoli, avocados, apples, oatmeal brown rice and whole grain bread.

4. Try to incorporate exercise into your daily or weekly routine – Exercise helps to speed up your metabolism and helps you shed weight. The bitter truth is that wearing just waist trainers and staying put in one position will not make you lose that stubborn belly fat. You should hit the gym.

5 Reduce alcohol intake – Excess intake of alcohol also leads to a host of health problems especially the build-up of fat in the belly area. Have you ever noticed that those who drink alcohol, especially men, often develop ‘pot-bellies’. Alcoholic drinks like beer provide your body with calories and very little nutrients. It can also increase your appetite. Replace the alcoholic drinks with water or alternate with low calorie, non-alcoholic beverages. Too much alcohol can cause liver damage and other serious health problems.

6. Try out apple cider vinegar – Apple cider vinegar is made in a two-step fermentation process. It is obtained from apples that have been crushed, distilled and fermented. Acetic acid is the main active component of apple cider vinegar. It is safe for consumption in small quantities and can be taken as a supplement. Do not also consume it straight from the bottle or in its pure form. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons to water before you drink. You can also add honey or lemon. It is best to drink it before your meals. Research shows it has many health benefits, such as lowering blood sugar levels.
